IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THIS END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE INSTALLING, ACTIVATING, OR USING PROTOLITH STUDIO.
By installing, copying, accessing, activating, or using Protolith Studio, you agree to be bound by the terms of this End User License Agreement ("Agreement"). If you accept this Agreement on behalf of a company or other organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it, and "User" refers to that organization. If you do not agree to these terms, do not install, activate, or use the Software.
1. DEFINITIONS
"Software" means Protolith Studio, including its executable files, libraries, user interface components, documentation, configuration files, sample projects, installers, update components, license validation components, and any related materials provided with it, including updates.
"Licensor" means Enver Savas, operating under the project name "Protolith Studio".
"User" means the individual or organization installing, accessing, activating, or using the Software.
"Plan" means the license type under which the Software is used: Free, Pro, Team, Enterprise, or Runtime, as described in Section 4.
"License" means the right to use the Software under a Plan for a License Term, as recorded on the License Server.
"License Term" means the period for which a License is valid: the trial period, the paid subscription period, or the term stated in an Order Form. The Free Plan has no fixed end date.
"Account" means the user account identified by an e-mail address that is used to activate the Software and manage Licenses.
"License Key" means the key issued by the Licensor to activate a License.
"Seat" means the right of one named individual to use the Software under a Team, Enterprise, or Runtime License.
"Computer" means one installation of the Software on one computer for one operating system user, as identified by the Software.
"Order Form" means a written quote, purchase order, or agreement between the Licensor and the User for an Enterprise or Runtime License.
"Reseller" means the online reseller (merchant of record) through which Pro and Team subscriptions are sold on the Licensor's website.
"License Server" means the server, service, API, or backend system used by the Licensor for account sign-in, license activation, license verification, offline license files, update checks, security checks, and related technical operations.
"Offline License File" means a signed license file issued for a Computer without an internet connection.

2. LICENSOR
Protolith Studio is a software project operated by Enver Savas under the project name "Protolith Studio".
Protolith Studio is not currently operated through a formally incorporated company. If a legal entity is established in the future, the Licensor information in this Agreement may be updated, and the Licensor may assign this Agreement to that entity.
3. LICENSE GRANT
Subject to the terms of this Agreement and payment of any applicable fees, the Licensor grants the User a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to install and use the Software in object code form, during the License Term, on the number of Computers allowed by the User's Plan, and only for the purposes permitted by that Plan.
The Software is licensed, not sold. This Agreement does not transfer ownership of the Software to the User.
4. PLANS AND PERMITTED USE
The features and limits of each Plan (for example the number of devices, parsers, nodes, recording length, and Computers) are described on the Licensor's website at the time of activation or purchase and are enforced by the Software. The Licensor may change the features and limits of the Free Plan at any time and of paid Plans for future License Terms.
Free Plan: The Free Plan may be used for personal use, education, and in-house evaluation. It may not be used for commercial production use, meaning work performed for paying customers, use in manufacturing or operational processes, or use as part of a commercial product or service, without a paid License. The Free Plan requires an Account and may be used on one Computer.
Pro Trial: A new Account may receive one Pro trial of 30 days, started online. The trial is for evaluation; when it ends, the Software continues on the Free Plan.
Pro Plan: A Pro License may be used by one named individual for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, on up to two Computers.
Team Plan: A Team License covers the number of Seats purchased. Each Seat may be used by one named individual on up to two Computers. Seats may be reassigned to another individual when a team member leaves, but may not be shared or rotated to allow more simultaneous users than Seats purchased.
Enterprise and Runtime Plans: The number of Seats, stations, Computers, the License Term, Offline License Files, support, and any other terms are set in the Order Form. Runtime Licenses may be used only to run existing projects and test flows on production or test stations, as described in the Order Form. If an Order Form conflicts with this Agreement, the Order Form prevails for that License.
Education License: A free Pro License granted for learning, teaching, research, or student competitions may be used only for those purposes and not for commercial work.
5. ACCOUNTS AND LICENSE KEYS
The User must provide a valid e-mail address for the Account and keep sign-in codes and License Keys confidential. The User is responsible for all use of the Software under the User's Account and License Keys.
License Keys may not be published, shared outside the licensed organization, sold, or transferred except as expressly permitted by the Licensor in writing.
6. SUBSCRIPTIONS, PAYMENT, AND REFUNDS
Pro and Team Licenses are sold as monthly or yearly subscriptions through the Reseller. The Reseller processes the payment, charges applicable taxes, and issues the invoice under its own terms. The Licensor does not receive or store the User's card or bank details.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until cancelled. The User may cancel at any time; the License then remains active until the end of the paid period and is not renewed. Price changes apply only from the next renewal and will be announced in advance.
The User may request a full refund within 14 days of a purchase, as described in the Refund Policy on the Licensor's website. After a refund, the License returns to the Free Plan.
Enterprise and Runtime Licenses are invoiced as stated in the Order Form.
Nothing in this Section limits any mandatory rights the User has under applicable consumer protection law.
7. END OF A LICENSE
When a trial or paid License ends, is cancelled and not renewed, or is refunded, the Software continues to work on the Free Plan. The User's projects and files are not deleted; projects that exceed the Free Plan limits can still be opened and viewed, while saving or running them may require a paid License.
Any right to keep using a particular version of the Software after the License Term ends exists only if it is expressly granted in an Order Form.
8. ACTIVATION, ONLINE CHECKS, AND OFFLINE USE
The Software is activated online with an Account or a License Key. It checks the License with the License Server at start and about once a day while it is used.
The Software continues to work for up to 30 days without a connection to the License Server; connecting once renews this period. If the License Server cannot be reached, the Software continues to work within this period.
For Computers that cannot connect to the internet, the Licensor may issue Offline License Files: renewable 30-day files for the Free Plan, and files for the term stated in the Order Form for Enterprise and Runtime Licenses. Offline License Files are not available for Pro and Team Licenses. Each request file may be used once and each Offline License File is valid only on the Computer for which it was issued.
The User may release a Computer from a License in the Software or on the Licensor's website, for example when replacing it. The number of releases per month may be limited.
The Software may operate with limited functionality or return to the Free Plan if the License cannot be verified within the periods above, has expired, has been revoked, or has been found to be invalid.
9. TECHNICAL LICENSE DATA AND USAGE DATA
For activation and license verification, the Software processes limited technical data, including:
- A device fingerprint calculated on the User's computer from the CPU processor ID, motherboard serial number, and physical disk serial number, hashed on the computer before it is sent
- A device key generated on the computer (only its public part is sent)
- The Account e-mail address, License Key or license identifier, installation ID, and request ID
- Application version and operating system information
- IP address, request timestamps, activation status, and license verification results
On the Free and Pro Plans, the Software also sends anonymous usage statistics and crash reports, which the User can turn off at any time on the License page of the Software ("Send anonymous usage data"). They are off by default on the Enterprise and Runtime Plans. The User's protocol and parser definitions, data sent to or received from devices, and device, channel, project, or file names are never collected.
Independently of this setting, the Software may send a short security report to the License Server if it detects tampering with its licensing mechanisms.
Details on how this data is processed, stored, and protected are provided in the separate Privacy Notice and, where applicable, the International Data Transfer Notice.
10. UPDATES
The Licensor may provide updates, patches, and new versions of the Software. The Software checks for updates using a signed release manifest and verifies each download before installing it.
Paid Licenses include the updates released during the License Term. Updates for the Free Plan are provided at the Licensor's discretion. A small number of updates may be marked as required, for example to keep license verification or security working; the Software may ask the User to install such an update before it can continue.
11. USER DATA AND PROJECT FILES
The User retains ownership of project files, configuration files, protocol definitions, test flows, logs, recordings, imported files, exported files, generated files, and other data created by the User through use of the Software. The Licensor does not claim ownership over User-created data.
The User is solely responsible for backing up, securing, validating, reviewing, and maintaining any data created, imported, exported, generated, transmitted, or processed using the Software.
12. RESTRICTIONS
The User shall not:
a. copy, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease, sell, resell, publish, or transfer the Software, except for installing it as permitted by this Agreement;
b. use the Software on more Computers, by more individuals, or beyond the limits of the User's Plan than the License allows, or share, publish, or resell License Keys or Accounts;
c. use the Free Plan, a trial, or an Education License for commercial production use;
d. reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, patch, tamper with, or attempt to derive the source code, internal structure, algorithms, license mechanisms, activation mechanisms, security mechanisms, or communication protocols of the Software, except where such restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
e. bypass, disable, tamper with, emulate, spoof, intercept, manipulate, or attempt to circumvent any licensing, activation, plan limit, update, authentication, encryption, device binding, server communication, integrity check, or security mechanism included in the Software;
f. use fake, modified, duplicated, shared, stolen, leaked, generated, or unauthorized License Keys or license files;
g. remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, proprietary notice, product name, logo, watermark, license notice, or security notice contained in the Software or its outputs;
h. offer the Software to third parties as a hosted, remote, time-sharing, or service bureau service;
i. use the Software to develop or distribute malware, unauthorized monitoring tools, or tools intended to bypass security controls, or in violation of any applicable law, regulation, contractual obligation, or third-party right.
13. OWNERSHIP AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All rights, title, and interest in and to the Software, including all intellectual property rights, software architecture, user interface design, workflows, documentation, logos, product names, source code, object code, algorithms, license systems, security systems, and related materials, remain the exclusive property of the Licensor or its licensors. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in this Agreement.
14. SAMPLE FILES AND DEMO CONTENT
The Software may include sample projects, sample protocols, example flows, mock data, templates, or demonstration materials. Such materials are provided for illustration only and are not certified, validated, or suitable for real-world operational use without the User's own verification.
15. SUPPORT
Pro and Team Licenses include support by e-mail at info@protolithstudio.com; the Licensor aims to answer within two business days. Support for the Free Plan is provided on a best-effort basis. Support levels, response times, and training for Enterprise and Runtime Licenses are set in the Order Form.
16. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS
The Software includes or depends on third-party libraries, runtime components, and infrastructure services that may be subject to their own license terms. The User agrees to comply with any applicable third-party license terms.
17. NO WARRANTY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
THE LICENSOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
THE LICENSOR DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL MEET THE USER'S REQUIREMENTS, OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION, BE FREE OF DEFECTS, OR PRODUCE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE RESULTS, OR THAT THE LICENSE SERVER WILL BE AVAILABLE AT ALL TIMES.
NOTHING IN THIS AGREEMENT EXCLUDES WARRANTIES OR RIGHTS THAT CANNOT BE EXCLUDED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, INCLUDING MANDATORY CONSUMER PROTECTION LAW.
18. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE LICENSOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, BUSINESS, REVENUE, OR GOODWILL, INTERRUPTION OF OPERATIONS, FAILED TESTS, INCORRECT OUTPUTS, COMMUNICATION FAILURES, LICENSE VALIDATION FAILURES, SERVER UNAVAILABILITY, OR COSTS OF SUBSTITUTE SOFTWARE OR SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.
THE LICENSOR'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY THE USER FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD 100) IF NOTHING WAS PAID.
THESE LIMITATIONS DO NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY FOR INTENT OR GROSS NEGLIGENCE, FOR DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY, OR TO ANY OTHER LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
19. NO PROFESSIONAL OR ENGINEERING GUARANTEE
The Software assists with protocol design, communication configuration, data monitoring, test flow creation, reporting, and related engineering activities. It does not replace professional engineering judgment, system validation, safety analysis, certification, compliance review, cybersecurity review, quality assurance, or independent testing.
The Software is not certified for use as part of safety-critical, life-support, or control systems. The User is solely responsible for verifying all configurations, outputs, generated files, protocol definitions, test flows, logs, and results before relying on them in any operational, regulated, commercial, or safety-related context.
20. SECURITY
The Licensor uses encryption, signed licenses, integrity checks, obfuscation, server-side verification, and other technical measures to protect the Software and the licensing system. The User shall not attempt to bypass, weaken, disable, extract, reproduce, or misuse such measures. No software, server, communication channel, or security mechanism can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
21. TERMINATION
This Agreement is effective until terminated.
The User may terminate this Agreement at any time by uninstalling the Software and deleting all copies in the User's possession or control. Cancelling a subscription is done as described in Section 6.
The Licensor may suspend or terminate the User's Licenses and this Agreement if the User materially breaches this Agreement, including Section 12, and does not remedy the breach after notice where a remedy is possible. In that case, fees already paid are not refunded unless required by law.
Upon termination of this Agreement, the User must stop using the Software and delete all copies. Sections relating to ownership, restrictions, technical data, warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, feedback, and governing law survive termination to the extent permitted by applicable law.
22. EXPORT AND LEGAL COMPLIANCE
The User agrees to comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to the installation, access, use, import, export, or re-export of the Software, and is responsible for ensuring that its use of the Software complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws.
23. FEEDBACK
If the User provides suggestions, ideas, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback regarding the Software, the Licensor may use such feedback without restriction, payment, or obligation to the User.
24. CHANGES TO THIS AGREEMENT
The Licensor may update this Agreement. The current version is available on the Licensor's website and in the installer. Changes apply to new versions of the Software and, for active subscriptions, from the next renewal. Material changes will be announced in the Software, on the website, or by e-mail. If the User does not agree to a change, the User may cancel before it takes effect.
25. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTES
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The parties will first try to resolve any dispute in good faith. Disputes that cannot be resolved this way are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts and enforcement offices of the Republic of Türkiye.
If the User is a consumer, this does not deprive the User of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which the User lives, or of the right to bring proceedings there.
26. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This Agreement, together with any Order Form, the Privacy Notice, and the Refund Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between the User and the Licensor regarding the Software and supersedes all prior understandings or agreements relating to it, including earlier beta license agreements.
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
